International press congress to take place in Vienna and Bratislava
The International Press Institute (IPI) will hold its annual World Congress in both Austria and Slovakia this year. The event, also celebrating the 60th anniversary of IPI, is titled Thinking the Unthinkable--Are We Losing the News? There is no registration deadline, but those who register before July 1 receive a discount.
The Congress will be held September 11 to 14, in Vienna and Bratislava. It will explore the challenges facing media around the world, but also solutions and success stories, and ethics in the new media landscape.
The three-day event will also include the honoring of 60 World Press Freedom Heroes – men and women who have risked their careers and lives in the pursuit of press freedom. Speakers include legendary US anchorman Dan Rather, Google News developer Josh Cohen, renowned Indian journalist Barkha Dutt and prominent editor-in-chief Tina Brown.
