Reuters publishes stylebook and code of ethics for the first time
The international news service, Reuters, has published their styleguide and code of ethics for the first time.
In the new age of citizen journalism, the manual is "a good place for budding journalists to begin," says Dean Wright, Global Editor for Innovation and News Standards at Reuters.
The handbook contains sections on standards and values, including the 10 absolutes of Reuters journalism, a general style guide and sports style guide, a guide to Reuters operations, and a section on specialised guidance, which deals with issues such as sourcing, legal dangers, the use of Internet-based reporting, dealing with threats and complaints, among other topics.
